October 2009 Update
Written by Hayli Morrison on October 30, 2009 – 11:24 pmThe move is done. My husband’s career change is complete. Preschool is well underway, and several new clients have contacted me. It’s funny how the writing business slowed down when I actually needed it to earlier this fall, in order to focus on the move. Then it picked up right when I was able to handle the workload again. For the first time in my three years of freelance copywriting, I am not recruiting new clients because they are finding me. It’s a blessing I don’t take for granted.
The name of the game this month seems to be corporate and non-profit PR, for everyone from the Salvation Army of Oswego, NY (via Step One Creative) to the local Goodlettsville Help Center to GreetingBee.com. I have written about everything from table linens to pancake breakfasts this month, enjoying the opportunity to work with exciting new companies, talk to new people and even learn new skills. While taking time out to rekindle old friendships over various lunches this month, I have learned valuable information on business ownership and operation. It’s all a reminder that, when you’re blessed to do what you love for a living, the journey is more than half the fun.
